Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) –

 

Was a Dutch painter and pioneer of abstract art. He lived in different places over the years including Paris, London, and New York.

Mondrian developed a style of painting based on the use of simple geometric shapes and pure colors. Rectangles were the prominent shapes in his work.

The X•Y Chart incorporates aspects of Mondrian’s designs in order to achieve a pleasing and eye catching appearance. Such attributes are commonly not part of educational posters.
